Coated volumetric flasks are strongly recommended when working with hazardous or valuable solutions. The flask body carries a specially formulated transparent coating that acts like a protective glove: if breakage occurs it holds the glass fragments together, reduces impact effects and minimises leakage risk. In most cases the coating retains the solution inside the flask without spillage. The coating withstands temperatures up to 135 °C for a maximum of 30 minutes, may be cleaned at up to 95 °C and autoclaved at 121 °C; direct contact with an open flame must be avoided. Clear and amber versions share identical technical specifications.
