The coated design is especially advisable when handling hazardous or valuable solutions. A specially composed transparent coating envelops the flask body like a protective glove, holding broken fragments together if the glass fails, thereby reducing impact effects and limiting leakage. In most cases the coating keeps the solution contained inside the body without spillage. The coating tolerates temperatures up to 135 °C for a maximum of 30 minutes, can be cleaned at up to 95 °C and autoclaved at 121 °C; it must not come into direct contact with an open flame. Clear and brown series share the same technical specifications.
