A Pasteur pipette is an uncalibrated glass or plastic transfer pipette. It moves a drop. It does not measure. Glass ones are pulled to a tip. Plastic ones are a single piece. Neither belongs in a result that needs a stated volume.

A piston pipette uses a tip, and the tip has to seal on that pipette. A filter tip adds a barrier so aerosol from the sample does not reach the piston.
