DURAN® desiccator base DN 100, NOVUS type (NS 24/29) with flat flange, is a vacuum-suitable laboratory vessel lower section for storing moisture-sensitive substances and drying moist products. A perforated plate of metal or porcelain divides the interior so that desiccant placed in the lower compartment can bind moisture from the sample resting on the plate. Reduced pressure may be applied to accelerate evaporation and shorten drying times. After evacuation the lid is pressed onto the base by atmospheric pressure, so the flat ground flange must be well greased to allow later separation. All DURAN® desiccators are vacuum-tight and suitable up to the technically maximum possible vacuum. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 by Duran/DWK Life Sciences, this NOVUS-type base provides a dense standard-ground-joint seal, is compatible with all lid types and is intended for use with lids carrying an NS 24/29 socket. It is well suited to moisture removal from solids, long-term storage of hygroscopic materials and safe vacuum drying.
