DURAN® Silicone Septum Seal is a peroxide-cured silicone septum designed for piercing applications in laboratory bottle and closure systems. Manufactured from VMQ silicone, this GL 18 septum seal features a diameter of 16 mm and fits screw connection closures produced from PBT. It provides thermal resistance of 130 °C under steam conditions and 200 °C under dry heat, making it suitable for thermally demanding laboratory processes. The peroxide-crosslinked silicone construction ensures reliable sealing performance with standard GL bottle threads. Example applications include autoclaving of media and reagents as well as storage of air-sensitive materials. Supplied as a single piece from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the septum is compatible with pierced PBT screw caps and supports controlled access to bottle contents. Laboratories requiring a durable pierceable barrier for media preparation, reagent handling or protection of sensitive samples will find this component a practical solution.
