EC 4/3 NUCLEOSIL 120-3 C8 is an HPLC guard column intended to protect analytical main columns in liquid chromatography. The cartridge measures 4 mm in length with a 3 mm internal diameter and is packed with the NUCLEOSIL 120-3 C8 stationary phase for reversed-phase work based on octyl-bonded silica. Used upstream of the separation column, it helps retain particulates and strongly retained matrix components before they reach the analytical bed, supporting stable retention and peak shape over longer column lifetimes.
Each pack contains three guard columns and is supplied by manufacturer Macherey-Nagel. The EC 4/3 format is specified for main columns with 3, 4 or 4,6 mm internal diameter and requires the Column Protection System guard column holder (REF 718966) for correct mounting with low dead volume. The compact geometry allows quick cartridge exchange during routine maintenance without changing the overall method setup. These pre-columns suit research and quality-control HPLC systems where C8 selectivity and reliable column protection are needed in everyday analytical practice.
