De steriliteit wordt gegarandeerd door extrusietemperaturen van meer dan 220 °C, waarbij alle aanwezige bacteriën worden gedood. Vóór het openen van de zakken bij de perforatielijn zijn de zakken aan de binnenzijde steriel.
