De steriliteit wordt gegarandeerd door extrusietemperaturen van meer dan 220 °C, waardoor alle aanwezige bacteriën worden gedood. Voordat de zakken bij de perforatielijn worden geopend, zijn ze aan de binnenzijde steriel.
