ROTI®nanoMETIC Quantum dots (QD) zijn fluorescerende nanodeeltjes van bepaalde halfgeleidende materialen, waarvan de elektronische eigenschappen nauw samenhangen met de grootte van de deeltjes. De fluorescentiegolflengte verschuift naar rood voor grotere deeltjes en naar blauw voor de kleinere. Hierdoor kan het volledige zichtbare kleurenspectrum worden bestreken met quantum dots van verschillende afmetingen, maar van hetzelfde materiaal. De mogelijkheid om de grootte van de deeltjes tijdens de productie te controleren, maakt het mogelijk hun elektronische en fluorescerende eigenschappen nauwkeurig in te stellen. Door hun anorganische aard zijn quantum dots veel stabieler dan organische fluorescerende kleurstoffen.
Perovskiet, hydrofoob, Cd-vrij. Perovskiet-quantum dots met de structuur PbCsX3 zijn Cd-vrije (Pb-gebaseerde) en sterk luminescerende quantum dots. Het oppervlak van de quantum dots is gemodificeerd met hydrofobe organische liganden. Deze quantum dots zijn gemakkelijk dispergeerbaar in hexaan, cyclohexaan, tolueen, chloroform, THF, pyridine en soortgelijke oplosmiddelen, maar niet in water, alcoholen en ethers. De producten worden geleverd als poeder in 2 ml flesjes met septum. Hierdoor kunnen de quantum dots direct in het flesje met het gewenste oplosmiddel worden gedispergeerd. De perovskiet-quantum dots zijn ideaal voor industriële toepassingen en kunnen op grote schaal worden geproduceerd.
