De Romer Labs Sponge-Stick is een 3″ x 1.5″ (7.5 cm x 3.5 cm) gecomprimeerde cellulosespons bevestigd aan een snelvrijgavende steel, voorvochtig gemaakt met 10 ml buffer naar keuze en individueel verpakt in een monsterzakje (Twirl-Tie™). De snelvrijgavende steel biedt een extra niveau van gemak en betrouwbaarheid. Het is ontworpen om de spons na monstername in het monsterzakje los te laten, zodat alleen de spons naar het laboratorium wordt teruggestuurd. Onnodige onderdelen die de monsterverwerking kunnen verstoren, worden zo geëlimineerd.
BPW (Buffered Peptone Water): Dit is een niet-selectief voorverrijkingsmedium dat de herleving van beschadigde cellen bevordert.LB (Letheen Bouillon): Een nutrientrijk medium met lecithine en Tween 80 als neutralisatoren.
