Description
Turbidity meter for drinking water applications, EPA, 230 V is a USEPA-compliant portable high-precision turbidimeter designed for low-range measurements such as drinking water control. Its optical system combines a tungsten lamp with a silicon scattered-light detector at 90° and a transmitted-light detector, applying the nephelometric ratio method in line with USEPA Method 180.1 and Standard Method 2130 B. Measuring ranges cover 0,00 to 9,99 NTU, 10,0 to 99,9 NTU and 100 to 1000 NTU with automatic range selection, resolutions down to 0,01 NTU and accuracy of ±2 % of reading +0,02 NTU. Calibration is possible at up to four points; up to 200 readings can be stored, with GLP features, tag identification and RS232/USB PC interface. The kit from manufacturer Hanna Instruments includes the meter, five capped cuvettes, turbidity standard kit, silicone oil, cleaning cloth, five i-Buttons with holder, batteries and AC adapter in a transport case. Power is supplied by four 1,5 V AA batteries or the AC adapter, with auto-off after 15 minutes idle. Compact dimensions of 224 × 87 × 77 mm and a weight of 512 g support mobile drinking-water and process turbidity work.
This article is part of Dissolved oxygen & multiparameter meters, in pH & electrochemistry.

Questions about EPA turbidity meter for drinking water, 230V
What is this article?
EPA turbidity meter for drinking water, 230V is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Hanna Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in Dissolved oxygen & multiparameter meters, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.
A dissolved-oxygen meter reads oxygen in a liquid, optically or with a Clark cell. A multiparameter meter adds pH, conductivity or both on one instrument. The sensor cap or the membrane is the consumable. A reading in air and a reading in water are different calibrations.
A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
