Owl™ A3-1 Large-Gel Electrophoresis System is a horizontal agarose unit for plant genomics and related molecular biology work, taking gels of 23 × 40 cm with a buffer volume of 4,5 L. One gel can accommodate 25 to 600 samples, and gels may be cast in shorter lengths to conserve agarose when fewer lanes are needed. Built-in buffer exchange ports allow recirculation on extended runs, while the UVT gel tray uses gasketed end gates for a leakproof seal without tape. A three-point leveling base promotes flat, uniformly thick gels, and multiple comb slots give flexibility in sample number and resolving distance. Microwell-format combs support fast multichannel loading, including direct transfer from 96-well plates eight or twelve samples at a time. The complete system from manufacturer Thermo Scientific includes the buffer chamber with leveling base, SuperSafe™ lid with attached power leads, UVT gel tray, four combs (two 25-well and two 50-well), buffer exchange ports and bubble level. External dimensions are 53 × 32 × 11 cm; the CE-marked unit is supplied as one piece for large-format horizontal electrophoresis.
