Low-range phosphate photometer HI97713C is a portable, battery-operated meter for orthophosphate determination from 0,00 to 2,50 mg/L (as PO4³⁻) at 0,01 mg/L resolution and accuracy of ±0,04 mg/L ±4 % of reading at 25 °C. It applies an ascorbic acid procedure in which orthophosphate reacts with molybdate in acid to form a phosphomolybdate complex that is reduced to a blue colour proportional to phosphate concentration—well suited to low-level samples. Phosphate appears in foods, antifreeze buffers, fertilisers and corrosion control in drinking water and boilers; elevated runoff can drive eutrophication, so monitoring of waters and effluents is essential. The HI97xxx optical bench uses an LED and narrow-band filter in a dust-, dirt- and water-sealed path with consistent cuvette positioning. CAL CHECK™ and NIST-traceable standards enable verification and recalibration; a tutorial mode steps through preparation and reagent volumes. German menu guidance, storage of the last 50 results, GLP calibration recall, reaction timer, battery indicator, helpful error messages and automatic shut-off support routine laboratory and field work.
