Description

R 1389 propeller stirrer is a three-bladed, PTFE-coated stirring element intended for overhead stirring in laboratory vessels. The blade geometry draws the mixture from top to bottom, generating an axial flow pattern with localised shear forces. It is suited to medium to high rotational speeds where controlled axial circulation is required. Stirrer diameter is 75 mm; the shaft diameter is 8 mm with a stainless-steel core of 6 mm diameter. Overall shaft length is 350 mm, of which approximately 30 mm of the metal core remains visible at the upper end for secure clamping in a chuck. The PTFE coating provides broad chemical resistance for aqueous and many organic media. This stirrer from manufacturer IKA is a practical choice for blending, suspending solids and promoting heat and mass transfer in beakers, flasks and reactors. The exposed stainless-steel core ensures reliable torque transmission while the coated working section minimises product adhesion and simplifies cleaning between batches.

What is this article?

R 1389, Propeller stirrer, 3-bladed, PTFE, Ø75 mm, 350 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Stirring shafts, propellers & impellers, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.

A shaft, a propeller or an impeller is the wetted end of an overhead stirrer. The diameter and the pitch decide whether the liquid turns over. The material, stainless steel or PTFE, decides what the liquid may be. The chuck size has to match the stirrer.

Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
