Description

Vigreux column with glass vacuum shell is a DURAN® distillation component configured with sleeve/core joints 14/23, an effective height of 200 mm and an overall length of 300 mm. The outer glass vacuum jacket surrounds the indented Vigreux path, supporting thermally insulated fractionation within laboratory distillation bridges and glass apparatus. Horizontal and vertical punctures on the inner column promote vapour–liquid contact during distillation and extraction procedures. Supplied as one piece weighing 0,150 kg, the item is produced by manufacturer Lenz for modular bench assemblies that require a vacuum-jacketed column. Standard NS 14/23 geometry ensures straightforward connection to matching flasks, condensers and adapters. DURAN® construction meets customary laboratory expectations for chemical resistance under heated operation. This jacketed Vigreux column is suited to academic and industrial workflows where reduced heat loss and stable column performance are desired in compact distillation trains using 14/23 joints.

This article is part of Distillation heads, adapters & columns, in Distillation & extraction glassware.

What is this article?

Vigreux column, DURAN®, gl. vacuum shell, H 200 mm, L 300 mm, sleeve/core 14/23 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Lenz for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.

A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.

Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
