Description

Vigreux column with glass shell, NS 29/32, is a distillation column designed for fractional separation work in the laboratory. Made from DURAN® glass, the column incorporates horizontal and vertical punctures (indentations) that increase the internal surface area and promote vapour–liquid contact along the 300 mm length. The NS 29/32 ground joints allow direct connection to matching round-bottom flasks, still heads and condensers in standard glassware trains. Offered by manufacturer Lenz, this component belongs to the range of glass parts used for distillation and extraction assemblies. The outer glass shell protects the indented working section and helps maintain a stable thermal environment during operation. Supplied as a single piece with a weight of 0,370 kg, the column is suited to preparative organic distillations, solvent purification and teaching demonstrations where a compact Vigreux geometry is preferred. It integrates cleanly into existing NS 29/32 setups without additional adapters when joint sizes are matched throughout the apparatus.

What is this article?

Vigreux column, glass shell, NS 29/32, DURAN®, horiz./vert. punctures, 300 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Lenz for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.

A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.

Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
