Description

ASTEROID 70 stirring bar is a high-performance magnetic stir bar newly developed for demanding mixing tasks. Its triangular convex geometry delivers more than four times higher transferable torque than conventional round bars, producing a decisive increase in mixing efficiency for large volumes, viscous media, stirring over greater distances or unfavourable vessel bottoms. The high-energy, permanently stable magnetic field shows no demagnetisation effect, while the convex shape minimises contact area yet ensures reliable rotation and strong thrust even at lower speeds. The high-quality smooth sealed PTFE coating is FDA-compliant and steam-sterilisable at 121 °C; PTFE wear is reduced by approximately 300 % compared with comparable round bars, allowing higher attainable speeds. Dimensions are 39 × 70 mm with a diameter of 45 mm; net weight is 0,31 kg. This stir bar from manufacturer 2mag multiplies the performance of any magnetic stirrer and is ideal for laboratory applications requiring robust, efficient mixing.

This article is part of Magnetic stirring bars, in Stirring, shaking & mixing.

Questions about 2mag - ASTEROID 70 Stirring bar, PTFE

What is this article?

2mag - ASTEROID 70 Stirring bar, PTFE is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes 2mag for laboratory use. It sits in Magnetic stirring bars, inside Stirring, shaking & mixing, in Lab instruments.

A magnetic stirring bar is the magnet coated in PTFE that spins inside a vessel, driven by a stirrer underneath. Length and shape, plain, oval or cross, have to suit the flask. A bar left against a dry glass wall will grind it.

Stirring keeps a mixture uniform or helps a solid dissolve. A magnetic stirrer spins a bar inside a closed vessel. An overhead stirrer drives a shaft when the liquid is viscous or the volume is large. A vortex mixer agitates a tube. A shaker moves a whole rack or a plate. The shape of the impeller and the speed decide whether the liquid turns over or merely spins. The vessels being stirred are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
