Description

BOLA filter membranes are microporous PTFE discs with a membrane diameter of 13 mm, a pore size of 5 µm and a thickness of 0,2 mm. The open pore structure and 132 mm² filter area support laboratory filtration and clarification steps that require a coarser PTFE membrane than sub-micron grades. Each pack contains ten membranes, allowing convenient replenishment of holders and small-scale filter assemblies. Produced by Bohlender from microporous PTFE, the membranes offer broad chemical resistance and a thin, uniform profile suited to compact laboratory hardware. Net weight is 0,002 kg per pack, so storage and handling remain straightforward. Applications include particle separation, protective filtration and media contact situations where only PTFE should touch the process fluid. Additional diameters and pore sizes are listed under related BOLA article numbers for matching multi-size workflows.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

What is this article?

BOLA Filtering Membranes, Ø 13mm 5µm t= 0,2mm PU=10pcs. Made of microporous PTFE is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Bohlender for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
