Description

DURAN® Filter crucible 15 ml, porosity 1 is a specialised laboratory filter designed for solid-liquid separation and purification of various media under vacuum conditions. Equipped with a sintered glass bottom that acts as the integral filter medium, it requires no additional filter paper. Filter crucibles differ from standard filter funnels by the absence of a stem, which permits safe standing of the vessel and facilitates subsequent operations such as drying the collected solid residue directly on the filter in a vacuum desiccator. The body narrows towards the base, thereby minimising potential soiling of the rubber sleeve. Manufactured from DURAN® borosilicate glass 3.3 by Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the crucible combines proven chemical resistance with high resistance to thermal shock, complemented by a permanently fired white print. Applications include qualitative analysis, preparative chemistry, separation and further processing of filter residues, and filtration at reduced pressure. Compatible rubber sleeves and filter adapters are available separately. Supplied in packs of 10 pieces with a nominal volume of 15 ml, this robust glassware supports efficient laboratory filtration workflows.

Questions about DURAN® Filter Crucible

What is this article?

DURAN® Filter Crucible is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Crucibles, inside Dishes, crucibles & porcelain, in Labware.

A crucible holds a sample in a furnace or over a flame, at temperatures that would soften a borosilicate beaker. Porcelain, platinum and glazed ceramic are different articles. The form, tall or wide, decides how fast a sample dries or ashes.

A dish is an open vessel for drying, evaporating or holding a solid. Porcelain and glazed ceramic take a higher temperature than borosilicate glass, which is why a crucible, not a beaker, goes into a furnace. A watch glass covers, or holds a small amount for drying. A mortar is for grinding. The temperature and the chemical, not the shape alone, choose the material. Laboratory ware of this family is listed under ISO laboratory ware.
