Description

DURAN® flat-bottom flask NS 24/29 with 100 ml nominal volume is a form variant of the classic round-bottom flask, distinguished by its flattened base that permits stable free-standing placement without a support ring. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, the vessel incorporates a precision standard ground joint that ensures a tight, interchangeable connection to complementary ground-joint components such as columns, thermometers, dropping funnels or stoppers. Because of its geometry the flask is intended exclusively for pressureless laboratory work. The permanently fired-on white enamel marking remains legible throughout repeated use and cleaning cycles. Typical applications include dilution of solutions and controlled heating procedures. Supplied in packs of ten pieces from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, this 0,1 l DURAN® stehkolben combines mechanical stability on the bench with the chemical and thermal resistance expected of borosilicate glass 3.3 laboratory ware, making it a practical choice for routine preparative and analytical tasks that require a self-supporting reaction vessel with standardised NS 24/29 joint.

Questions about DURAN® Flat Bottom Flask, with standard ground joint

What is this article?

DURAN® Flat Bottom Flask, with standard ground joint is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Round-bottom flasks, inside Beakers & flasks, in Labware.

A round-bottom flask is the heating flask of a distillation or a reflux. The curved wall takes the heat, and the ground neck connects to a still head or a condenser. The joint size, not only the volume, has to match the rest of the set.

A beaker is an open working vessel: easy to pour, poor as a measure. An Erlenmeyer flask has a flat base and a conical wall so a liquid can be swirled without climbing out. A round-bottom flask is for heating under a condenser, because the heat meets a curved wall and the joint at the neck connects to the rest of the glassware. Borosilicate is the glass that survives the temperature change. These forms are listed under ISO laboratory glassware.
