Description
DURAN® measuring cylinder 250 ml, hexagonal base, class B, low form with white graduations is intended for holding and simultaneously measuring different quantities of liquids. The class B cylinders are low form and possess a line graduation together with a white scale. Volume tolerances for measuring and mixing cylinders match the error limits specified by DIN and ISO. Key features include calibration to contain (“In”) at the +20 °C reference temperature, a large hexagonal base fitted with three knobs on the underside that provides excellent standing stability and stops the cylinder from rolling away, and uniform wall thickness throughout the measuring range which prevents wedge errors. The white printed scale is fired in and therefore permanently durable, remaining easily readable for content measurement. Suitable applications encompass measuring liquid volumes, diluting solutions, mixing several components and general volumetric work. Offered by manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the cylinder is made of borosilicate glass 3.3. To maintain long service life and avoid any volume changes these glass items should not be heated above +250 °C in a drying oven or sterilizer.
This article is part of Measuring cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, low form, white scale
What is this article?
DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, low form, white scale is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Measuring cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.
A measuring cylinder is the tall graduated vessel for a volume that does not need volumetric-flask accuracy. Class A and class B differ in tolerance. Reading the bottom of the meniscus, at eye level, is part of using it.
Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
