Description

DURAN® measuring cylinder with hexagonal base, class B, low form and white graduations is designed for the reception and simultaneous measurement of varying liquid volumes in the laboratory. This 2000 ml (2 l) cylinder is manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 and adopts a low-form geometry with line graduations and a white scale. The white printed image is burnt-in and therefore permanently durable, remaining clearly legible over extended use. Adjustment is performed to contain (“In”) at a reference temperature of +20 °C. The volume tolerances match accuracy class B according to the error limits specified by DIN and ISO for measuring and mixing cylinders. A generous hexagonal foot with three underside knobs delivers reliable standing stability and stops the cylinder from rolling. Consistent wall thickness across the entire measuring range eliminates wedge errors. Applications cover measuring liquid amounts, diluting solutions, mixing multiple components and routine volumetric procedures. Glassware of this type from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences should not be heated above +250 °C in drying cabinets or sterilizers so that volumetric integrity is maintained over the product lifetime.

This article is part of Measuring cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, low form, white scale

What is this article?

DURAN® Measuring Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class B, low form, white scale is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Measuring cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.

A measuring cylinder is the tall graduated vessel for a volume that does not need volumetric-flask accuracy. Class A and class B differ in tolerance. Reading the bottom of the meniscus, at eye level, is part of using it.

Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
