Description

DURAN® mixing cylinder with hexagonal base, class A, blue graduations and batch certificate is a 25 ml volumetric vessel for diluting solutions and mixing several components in defined ratios. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, it is adjusted to contain (In) at +20 °C and carries main-point ring graduations meeting class A tolerances according to DIN and ISO. The large hexagonal base with three bottom knobs provides stability and prevents rolling, while the ergonomic polyethylene stopper and NS 14/23 ground joint ensure a tight, convenient seal. An enamelled blue scale remains permanently legible. Batch-certified units include documentation of mean value, standard deviation and issue date, with certificates also available online. From manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, the cylinder supports volumetry, solution preparation and multi-component mixing. Uniform wall thickness across the measuring range avoids wedge errors. To maintain long-term volume accuracy, heating above +250 °C in drying ovens or sterilisers should be avoided.

This article is part of Mixing cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Mixing Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class A, blue scale, batch certificate

What is this article?

DURAN® Mixing Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class A, blue scale, batch certificate is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Mixing cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.

A mixing cylinder is a graduated cylinder with a stopper, so a dilute solution can be shaken in the vessel it was measured in. It is coarser than a volumetric flask and more convenient when many dilutions are made by hand.

Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
