Description
DURAN® mixing cylinder 100 ml with hexagonal base is a class A volumetric vessel with blue graduations and batch certificate. Manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3, it serves for diluting solutions and mixing several components in predetermined volume ratios. The cylinder is adjusted to contain (In) at the +20 °C reference temperature. Uniform wall thickness across the measuring range prevents wedge errors. The large hexagonal foot with three knobs on the underside provides firm standing stability and stops the cylinder from rolling. Delivery includes an ergonomic polyethylene stopper for fast, secure handling; the NS 24/29 standard ground joint delivers a dense closure. The blue printed scale is fired into the glass for permanent durability and features easily readable line graduations with main-point ring marks. Volume tolerances correspond to accuracy class A per DIN and ISO. Class A mixing cylinders with batch number are accompanied by a batch certificate documenting mean value, standard deviation and issue date of the measured batch; certificates can also be retrieved online. From manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences, this cylinder is suited to measuring liquid quantities, diluting solutions, multi-component mixing and routine volumetry. Glassware should not be heated above +250 °C in a drying cabinet or sterilizer to maintain volumetric integrity.
This article is part of Mixing cylinders, in Volumetric glassware.

Questions about DURAN® Mixing Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class A, blue scale, batch certificate
What is this article?
DURAN® Mixing Cylinder, hexagonal base, Class A, blue scale, batch certificate is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Mixing cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.
A mixing cylinder is a graduated cylinder with a stopper, so a dilute solution can be shaken in the vessel it was measured in. It is coarser than a volumetric flask and more convenient when many dilutions are made by hand.
Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
