Description

DURAN® reducing adapter with socket NS 14/23 and cone NS 24/29 is a precision ground-glass joint component for connecting laboratory glassware parts that have different standard taper (NS) sizes. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, the adapter combines chemical resistance with good thermal stability for everyday apparatus work. It enables modular assembly of distillation trains, reaction setups and other glass systems by bridging unequal NS joints while maintaining a reliable seal when used with joint grease or PTFE sleeves. Supplied as a single piece with a net weight of 0,013 kg, the component is compact and easy to integrate into existing glassware trains. The DURAN® adapter from manufacturer Duran/DWK Life Sciences follows established norms for interchangeable ground joints, supporting flexible configuration of differently sized Schliff components. Typical applications include coupling two glass parts of unequal NS size in research, analytical and preparative chemistry workflows where leak-tight, reusable ground-joint connections are required.

Questions about DURAN® Reduction Adapter , socket/cone

What is this article?

DURAN® Reduction Adapter , socket/cone is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes DWK Life Sciences for laboratory use. It sits in Hose connectors, adapters & fittings, inside Tubing, hoses & fittings, in Labware.

A hose connector or adapter joins two lines, or steps one bore down to another. The barb diameter has to match the tube, and the thread has to match the stopcock or the bottle. Most leaks are a mismatch here, not a hole in the tube.

Tubing is how a liquid or a gas moves between two vessels without being poured. Silicone stays flexible and survives repeated autoclaving. PTFE resists almost every solvent and is stiff. PVC is the ordinary flexible line for water and for mild aqueous work. The fitting, not the tube, is what usually leaks: the barb, the thread and the stopcock have to match the tube bore. Glass and plastic apparatus around these lines is indexed under ISO laboratory ware.
