DURAN® Spherical Joint Socket, unground S 19/9 is a polished glass component that seals solely via a sealing ring rather than a ground surface. Made from borosilicate glass 3.3, this schlifflos variant enables flexible connections in the 10–15° range and supports fat-free working. Two sealing-ring options are typically available: FEP-coated silicone rings and VITON rings. The nominal size is defined by the nominal diameter of the spherical joint and, where applicable, the clear width of the tube. A dense closure is achieved by fitting an additional sealing ring. The socket is non-self-supporting and intended for further processing. It is used to create grease-free, flexible joints that can be oriented through 360° and is suitable for installation in glass apparatus and instruments.
