Description
EC400 portable conductivity/TDS meter is a user-friendly handheld instrument for simultaneous measurement of electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS) and temperature. It comes equipped with the 2301T-S electrode that employs BPB (Brush-resistant Platinum Black) technology and an integrated temperature sensor for automatic temperature compensation. Conductivity is covered from 0 to 200 mS/cm across five automatic ranges with resolution down to 0,01 µS/cm and accuracy of ±1,0 % F.S. ±1 digit; TDS extends to 100 g/l. Temperature is measured from 0 to 100 °C at 0,1 °C resolution (±0,5 °C ±1 digit). The IP57 dust- and water-resistant housing makes the device suitable for demanding field conditions. A large backlit LCD shows conductivity and temperature simultaneously along with calibration information, while self-diagnosis assists during 1- to 4-point calibration. Powered by four AA batteries, the compact meter (86×196×33 mm, 335 g) from manufacturer APERA Instruments is supplied complete with 1 m electrode cable, calibration solutions (84 µS/cm, 1413 µS/cm, 12,88 mS/cm, 50 ml each) and a carrying case (overall 1,6 kg). CE-marked with two-year instrument warranty (six months on electrodes).

Questions about EC400 Portable Conductivity/TDS Meter
What is this article?
EC400 Portable Conductivity/TDS Meter is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in Conductivity meters & cells, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.
A conductivity meter and its cell measure how well a solution carries current. The cell constant is the geometry that converts conductance to conductivity, and it is calibrated with a standard. Temperature compensation matters because conductivity rises with temperature.
A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
