Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate is a biplanar disc made of borosilicate 3.3 with a diameter of 10 mm, porosity grade 5 and a thickness of 2,0 mm ± 0,2 mm. Both faces are ground to deliver exact thickness and a plane-parallel surface, ensuring uniform contact and consistent flow in laboratory filtration assemblies. The borosilicate 3.3 material provides the chemical resistance expected for analytical and preparative work with aqueous and many organic media. Porosity 5 defines a controlled pore structure suited to particle retention according to standard sintered-glass classifications. These small-diameter filter plates are supplied in packs of 10 pieces from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon and are intended for use in filter holders, funnels or custom filtration setups that require dimensional accuracy. The biplanar ground finish supports reliable sealing and reproducible filtration performance. Ideal for applications needing compact sintered-glass filter media with defined porosity, tight thickness tolerance and plane-parallel geometry for laboratory solid-liquid separation tasks.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, bi-plane, 10 mm, Por. 5 Thickness 2.0 mm ± 0.2 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
