Description

VitraPOR® glass filter plate, 100 mm diameter, porosity 5, is a round laboratory filtration disc manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3. The plate has a thickness of 8,0 mm with a tolerance of ± 1,8 mm, an untreated surface and round-centred geometry for precise seating. Porosity grade 5 delivers a finer pore structure for applications that require tighter particle retention during solid–liquid separation. Borosilicate glass 3.3 provides the chemical resistance and thermal stability expected in everyday laboratory filtration work with aqueous and many organic media. Offered as one piece from manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, this disc is designed for use in glass filtration apparatus, frit holders and custom assemblies where a reusable glass filter medium of defined porosity is specified. The untreated surface retains native glass characteristics, and the centred form supports consistent mounting and alignment. VitraPOR® filter plates in the 100 mm format with porosity 5 serve clarification, fine filtration and support roles in chemistry and life-science laboratories that call for this pore grade and diameter.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

What is this article?

Filter Disc, centered, 100 mm, Por. 5 Thickness 8.0 mm ± 1.8 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
