Description

The HALO™ Bluetooth® pH/°C electrode for beer is a glass sensing electrode with a robust titanium body, cloth junction and integrated temperature sensor for direct pH and temperature measurement in beer, mash and wort. High-temperature glass extends service life when readings are taken at elevated process temperatures. Bluetooth® Smart (Bluetooth® 4.0) transmits data wirelessly up to 10 m to the free Hanna Lab App on compatible mobile devices or to an edge® blu meter. One-press connect pairs the probe quickly; a blue Halo LED indicates active transmission, and a button press tags samples for easy retrieval. Calibration data are stored in the electrode, so recalibration is not required when the paired device is changed. The double Ag/AgCl reference uses gel electrolyte and a spherical tip. Overall length is 183 mm, body length 120 mm and outer diameter 12,7 mm. Recommended operating temperature is 0 to 80 °C; ambient electronics range is 0 to 50 °C. Power comes from a replaceable CR2032 lithium battery (about 500 hours). From manufacturer Hanna Instruments, the unit is supplied with storage and cleaning solutions, pH 7,01 and 4,01 buffers, battery, quality certificate and manual.

Questions about HALO - glass pH/temperature electrode for beer testing

What is this article?

HALO - glass pH/temperature electrode for beer testing is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Hanna Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
