Description

HPM D2M is a monocular laboratory light microscope fitted with semi-plan, high-resolution objectives 4x, 10x, 40x and 60x, providing magnifications of 40x, 100x, 400x and 600x. Its 30° inclined monocular tube offers a 360° rotatable head and a wide-field WFP 10x/20 mm eyepiece with foldable eyecups, supporting comfortable observation during longer sessions. The 40x and 60x objectives include spring-loaded specimen protection to help safeguard slides when focusing at higher powers.

This article is part of Microscope objectives, eyepieces & optics, in Microscopy & histology.

The mechanical stage measures 140 x 155 mm and integrates a coaxial cross-stage with ergonomically arranged guides for accurate specimen movement. A centerable Abbe condenser with NA 1,25, iris diaphragm and filter holder is height-adjustable to match different preparation types. Illumination is provided by a new-generation 3 W LED with Köhler iris diaphragm; intensity is continuously adjustable by potentiometer and is comparable to a 30 W halogen source, while LED lifetime reaches about 50,000 hours. This configuration from manufacturer Windaus ships with dust cover, power cable and operating instructions and is intended for brightfield microscopy in education, routine diagnostics and laboratory workflows. Additional accessories can be requested separately.

Questions about HPM D2M

What is this article?

HPM D2M is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Windaus for laboratory use. It sits in Microscope objectives, eyepieces & optics, inside Microscopy & histology, in Lab instruments.

An objective makes the resolution. Magnification and numerical aperture are the two numbers, and the tube length or the infinity correction has to match the microscope. An eyepiece mostly enlarges the image the objective already resolved. A mismatched objective does not become sharper by zooming.

A light microscope forms an image with glass lenses and transmitted or reflected light. A stereo microscope is the lower-magnification instrument for dissecting and for looking at a surface. Fluorescence needs a light source and filters matched to the dye. Histology is the preparation that makes a tissue readable: fixation, a cassette, a section, a stain. The objective's magnification and numerical aperture decide the resolution. The slide and the cover glass decide whether the section sits in the focal plane. Stains and dyes as substances are identified on PubChem. Papers on the methods are on PubMed.
