Description

IKA G-L S003 is a midi centrifuge configured for twelve 1.5/2 ml vessels and supplied with a Swiss plug. It is intended for substance separation at medium speeds and is well suited to molecular-biology and other routine laboratory separation tasks. The instrument accepts standard 1,5/2 ml tubes and can also process PCR strips when an optional rotor is fitted. A metal lid opens automatically at the touch of a button; the centrifuge runs only when the lid is firmly closed, supporting safe daily operation. Navigation is fully intuitive via a membrane keypad that allows direct setting of speed, rotational speed or programmes. A powerful motor delivers speeds of up to 15 700 revolutions per minute. The functional scope of supply already includes the metal rotor and lid for twelve 1,5/2 ml vessels. This compact unit from manufacturer IKA offers a practical solution for laboratories that need reliable mid-range centrifugation with a clear display and straightforward controls, without requiring a large bench footprint.

This article is part of Rotor adapters & accessories, in Centrifuges.

What is this article?

IKA G-L S003, Centrifuge, 12x1.5/2 ml with Swiss plug is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes IKA for laboratory use. It sits in Rotor adapters & accessories, inside Centrifuges, in Lab instruments.

An adapter lets a rotor spun for large tubes accept smaller ones. The adapter has to be the one for that rotor, and the tubes have to be supported at the shoulder the adapter was designed for. A stack of the wrong inserts is an unbalanced load.

A centrifuge separates by density. The rotor spins the sample and the force is reported as a multiple of gravity, not as a raw speed, because the same revolutions per minute are a different force at a different radius. A microcentrifuge takes small tubes. A benchtop or floor model takes larger rotors. The tube, the adapter and the rotor have to be the combination the manufacturer rated. An unbalanced load is how centrifuges fail. Measurement of the related quantities sits with the BIPM.
