Description

IoT-Line compact laboratory balance KERN PCB 1000-2 is a full-range precision balance with a maximum load of 1 kg and a readability of 0,00001 kg. Its square weighing pan measures 130 mm by 130 mm, making it suitable for fine laboratory weighing and technical experiments. Built for Industry 4.0 workflows, the instrument works with school-specific software such as Vernier® or LabQuest® and can send weighing data to a PC or laptop via USB using the KERN School Protocol. The integrated KERN Universal Port (KUP) allows external interface adapters—RS-232, USB, Bluetooth, WLAN or Ethernet—to be plugged on without opening the housing; the KUP-13 extension box permits up to three adapters in parallel. KERN Communication Protocol (KCP) supports remote interrogation and control from computers or external controllers. Features include PRE-TARE for known container weights, recipe weighing with total recall, checkweighing with an optical signal, freely programmable weighing units and an anti-shock system that reduces vibration between pan and load cell. Battery operation is possible, adjustment is external, legal-for-trade approval is not provided, and a protective working cover is supplied. This compact model from manufacturer Kern fits connected laboratory settings.

Questions about IoT-Line Compact Laboratory Balance KERN, PCB 1000-2

What is this article?

IoT-Line Compact Laboratory Balance KERN, PCB 1000-2 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Kern for laboratory use. It sits in Precision balances, inside Balances & scales, in Lab instruments.

A precision balance reads more coarsely than an analytical balance, often 1 mg or 10 mg, and it takes a heavier pan load. It is the balance for preparing bulk reagents. Draft, level and a warm-up still move the last digit.

A balance compares a mass with a standard. An analytical balance reads to 0.1 mg or finer and needs a draft shield and a stable bench. A precision balance is coarser and faster. A platform scale takes a heavier load. The reading is only as good as the calibration chain back to the kilogram, which is why test weights and a certificate exist. A moisture analyser is a balance with a heater: it records the loss of mass as water leaves. The unit of mass is kept by the BIPM, compared across Europe by EURAMET, and accredited by BELAC. NIST publishes the same measurement foundations.
