The integrated KERN Universal Port (KUP) allows external KUP interface adapters—such as RS-232, USB, Bluetooth, WLAN or Ethernet—to be simply plugged on, so interfaces can be retrofitted without opening the housing or complex installation. Adapters enable convenient transfer of weighing data to networks, PCs, smartphones, tablets, laptops and printers, and also permit control commands and data input from connected devices. With the optional Extension Box KERN KUP-13, up to three KUP adapters can be operated in parallel. KERN Communication Protocol (KCP) supports querying and remote control via external controllers or computers.
Compatibility with school-specific software solutions such as Vernier® or LabQuest® and the KERN School Protocol allows weighing data to be sent via USB for evaluation and visualisation during technical experiments. Practical functions include PRE-TARE for known container weights, recipe weighing for multi-component mixtures, checkweighing with an optical signal, freely programmable weighing units, and an anti-shock system between pan and load cell for faster, more reliable results.
