Description

IoT-Line compact laboratory balance KERN PCB 300-3 is a laboratory standard suited to diverse Industry 4.0 applications. Compatible with school-specific solutions such as Vernier® or LabQuest®, it uses the KERN School Protocol to send weighing data via the USB data interface to a PC or laptop for evaluation and visualisation in technical experiments. Manufacturer Kern equips the balance with an integrated KERN Universal Port (KUP) for simply plugged-on adapters including RS-232, USB, Bluetooth, WLAN or Ethernet, enabling convenient retrofit without opening the housing. Up to three KUP adapters can run in parallel with the Extension Box KERN KUP-13. The KERN Communication Protocol (KCP) allows interrogation and remote control from external devices or computers. Operation covers PRE-TARE for known tare weights, a recipe function for weighing mixture components with total-weight check, checkweighing with an optical signal for portioning, dosing or sorting, and freely programmable units such as thread length g/m or paper weight g/m². An anti-shock system between weighing pan and load cell dampens vibration for quicker, more secure results. A ring-shaped draft shield is fitted as standard (weighing space ∅×H 90×40 mm), and a protective working cover is included.

This article is part of Precision balances, in Balances & scales. See also Analytical balances.

Questions about IoT-Line Compact Laboratory Balance KERN, PCB 300-3

What is this article?

IoT-Line Compact Laboratory Balance KERN, PCB 300-3 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Kern for laboratory use. It sits in Precision balances, inside Balances & scales, in Lab instruments.

A precision balance reads more coarsely than an analytical balance, often 1 mg or 10 mg, and it takes a heavier pan load. It is the balance for preparing bulk reagents. Draft, level and a warm-up still move the last digit.

A balance compares a mass with a standard. An analytical balance reads to 0.1 mg or finer and needs a draft shield and a stable bench. A precision balance is coarser and faster. A platform scale takes a heavier load. The reading is only as good as the calibration chain back to the kilogram, which is why test weights and a certificate exist. A moisture analyser is a balance with a heater: it records the loss of mass as water leaves. The unit of mass is kept by the BIPM, compared across Europe by EURAMET, and accredited by BELAC. NIST publishes the same measurement foundations.
