Description

IoT-Line compact laboratory balance KERN PCB 3000-2 is a compact laboratory balance conceived as a practical standard for diverse Industry 4.0 applications. It combines a unified, simplified operating concept with connectivity options that support modern data workflows in research, teaching and routine laboratory weighing. A protective working cover is included in the scope of delivery.

This article is part of Precision balances, in Balances & scales. See also Analytical balances.

The integrated KERN Universal Port (KUP) accepts plug-on external interface adapters such as RS-232, USB, Bluetooth, WLAN or Ethernet, allowing interfaces to be added comfortably without opening the balance housing or performing complicated installation work. Connected adapters transfer weighing data to networks, PCs, smartphones, tablets, laptops and printers, and also accept control commands and data input from those devices. Using Extension Box KERN KUP-13, up to three KUP adapters can run in parallel. KERN Communication Protocol (KCP) enables querying and remote control of the balance from external control units or computers.

Thanks to the KERN School Protocol, weighing data can be transferred via the USB data interface to a PC or laptop for evaluation and visualisation in technical experiments, with compatibility for school-specific software such as Vernier® or LabQuest®. PRE-TARE handles known container weights, recipe weighing supports multi-component mixtures with total-weight recall, checkweighing uses an optical signal for portioning, dosing or sorting, and freely programmable units allow direct display in application-specific measures. An anti-shock system between weighing pan and load cell reduces vibration for faster, more secure results. This instrument comes from manufacturer Kern.

Questions about IoT-Line Compact Laboratory Balance KERN, PCB 3000-2

What is this article?

IoT-Line Compact Laboratory Balance KERN, PCB 3000-2 is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Kern for laboratory use. It sits in Precision balances, inside Balances & scales, in Lab instruments.

A precision balance reads more coarsely than an analytical balance, often 1 mg or 10 mg, and it takes a heavier pan load. It is the balance for preparing bulk reagents. Draft, level and a warm-up still move the last digit.

A balance compares a mass with a standard. An analytical balance reads to 0.1 mg or finer and needs a draft shield and a stable bench. A precision balance is coarser and faster. A platform scale takes a heavier load. The reading is only as good as the calibration chain back to the kilogram, which is why test weights and a certificate exist. A moisture analyser is a balance with a heater: it records the loss of mass as water leaves. The unit of mass is kept by the BIPM, compared across Europe by EURAMET, and accredited by BELAC. NIST publishes the same measurement foundations.
