Description

LabSen 243-6 combined pH electrode is designed for micro-volume samples of 0,2 ml and above as well as for use in narrow test tubes. Fabricated with patented Swiss sensor technology and materials from manufacturer APERA Instruments, it features a long-life reference system consisting of a glass tube, AgCl and reference silver wire whose upper section is packed with cotton to suppress AgCl–electrolyte reactions during temperature changes, thereby improving reference stability and electrode lifetime. The LabSen S-type semi-micro glass membrane measures 100 mm in length and 6 mm in diameter, offers low membrane resistance and delivers rapid, stable readings even in volumes ≥0,2 ml at temperatures up to 100 °C. An integrated NTC 30 kΩ temperature sensor enables automatic temperature compensation. Blue gel electrolyte does not flow or generate air bubbles. Overall electrode body is Ø12 × 150 mm with a slim measuring tip of Ø6 × 100 mm, ceramic diaphragm, lead-free glass shaft, 3 M KCl electrolyte and BNC/RCA connectors on a Ø5 mm × 1 m cable. Compatible with Apera meters that accept BNC connectors; six-month manufacturer warranty applies.

What is this article?

LabSen 243-6 Combined pH Electrode for Micro Samples (> 200µl) is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes APERA Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
