Description

Micro filter candle Ø 6 mm, porosity 2, height 15 mm is a cylindrical VitraPOR® filtration element manufactured from borosilicate glass 3.3 for laboratory solid–liquid separation tasks. The compact candle measures 6 mm in outer diameter and 15 mm in height, with a central bore of 2 mm, and is specified at porosity grade 2. Its small format supports micro-scale filtration, sample clarification and preparatory work where limited volumes or confined apparatus are involved. Produced by manufacturer ROBU - Stereon, the borosilicate 3.3 construction provides the chemical and thermal resistance expected of standard laboratory glass filter media. The cylindrical geometry and defined porosity enable consistent particle retention in analytical and research applications. Supplied in packs of 5 pieces, these micro filter candles integrate readily into custom glass assemblies, microfiltration setups and specialised laboratory filtration systems requiring a short, narrow porous element.

This article is part of Sintered glass filter plates & discs, in Filtration.

Questions about Micro-Filter Candle-blanks, Ø 6 mm, Por. 2, H 15 mm

What is this article?

Micro-Filter Candle-blanks, Ø 6 mm, Por. 2, H 15 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes ROBU - Stereon for laboratory use. It sits in Sintered glass filter plates & discs, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A sintered glass filter is a disc of fused glass particles with a porosity grade, often 0 to 5, from coarse to fine. It is cleaned and reused. The porosity number, not a micrometre guess, is the specification. Hydrofluoric acid and strong alkali attack the glass.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
