Description
Nalgene™ cylinders with PMP graduations are graduated polymethylpentene measuring cylinders with a metric capacity of 500 ml for laboratory volume determination. They meet ASTM Class B accuracy requirements according to E1272 and fulfil CFR 21, Part 177.1520 as well as all requirements of ISO standard 6706. Construction material is PMP (polymethylpentene). All sizes feature a generous pour spout and embossed graduations. The graduation range extends from 15 ml to 500 ml in 5 ml steps, with a tolerance of ±4 ml. Calibration covers volume to contain and volume to deliver. Design is round with a hexagonal base type for secure standing during use. The cylinders are autoclavable and withstand a maximum temperature of 145 °C. Manufacturer dimensions include an outer diameter of 2,44 in., an inner diameter of 1,83 in., and a height of 15,5 in. These Class B measuring cylinders from manufacturer Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics are supplied as a case of 8 pieces and support everyday measuring and mixing applications in research and quality-control laboratories. Nominal volume is 0,5 l.

Questions about Nalgene™ PMP Plastic Graduated Cylinders
What is this article?
Nalgene™ PMP Plastic Graduated Cylinders is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Laboratory Plastics for laboratory use. It sits in Measuring cylinders, inside Volumetric glassware, in Labware.
A measuring cylinder is the tall graduated vessel for a volume that does not need volumetric-flask accuracy. Class A and class B differ in tolerance. Reading the bottom of the meniscus, at eye level, is part of using it.
Volumetric glassware is glass that has been calibrated to contain or to deliver one stated volume at a reference temperature. That calibration is the whole point. Class A and class AS have a tighter tolerance than class B. A volumetric flask contains. A pipette and a burette deliver. A measuring cylinder is the coarser reading, used when the volume is not the result. The classes sit under ISO laboratory glassware. The chain back to the unit of volume is the work of the BIPM and of NIST.
