Description
Owl™ VEP-2 Mini Tank Electroblotting System is a tank-style electroblotting unit engineered for uniform, reproducible protein transfers from polyacrylamide minigels. The system accommodates up to four minigels and supports efficient transfer across a wide molecular-weight range, making it suitable for Western blotting and related protein analysis workflows. Transfer area is 9 × 9 cm with a buffer volume of 1,4 L; metric gel dimensions are 9 cm length by 9 cm width. An integrated cooling base enables temperature-controlled runs, and stir bars (not included) may be placed in the buffer chamber to improve circulation. The assembly includes a buffer chamber with platinum wire electrode panels and cooling base, a safety interlocking lid with attached power supply leads, four blotting cassettes with foam pads and cassette clips, plus six sheets of blotting filter paper. External dimensions are approximately 18 × 13 × 16,5 cm. This electroblotting system from manufacturer Thermo Scientific is supplied as a complete VEP-2 mini tank unit for laboratories requiring consistent, fast protein transfer performance in a compact footprint.

Questions about Owl™ VEP-2 Mini Tank Electroblotting System VEP-2 mini Tank
What is this article?
Owl™ VEP-2 Mini Tank Electroblotting System VEP-2 mini Tank is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Thermo Scientific - Equipment LED for laboratory use. It sits in Blotting membranes & papers, inside Protein biology & Western blot, in Microbiology lab supplies.
A blotting membrane, nitrocellulose or PVDF, binds proteins transferred out of a gel. Pore size, 0.2 µm or 0.45 µm, and the format, roll or pre-cut, are the choices. PVDF is activated in methanol. The papers and the sponges around it in the cassette are part of the same stack.
Protein work separates a mixture, then asks which protein is which. Extraction and purification take the protein out of the cell. A marker shows the masses. A Western blot moves the separated proteins onto a membrane and probes them with an antibody. The membrane, nitrocellulose or PVDF, has to bind the protein and survive the washes. Antibodies and methods are in PubMed. Reference material is at ATCC.
