Description

PORA CA membrane filter is a white cellulose acetate (CA) membrane disc with a pore size of 0,45 µm and a diameter of 90 mm for larger-format laboratory filtration. The PORAFIL CA construction uses cellulose acetate to give a hydrophilic membrane with a defined 0,45 µm pore structure, appropriate for clarifying aqueous samples, media components and laboratory solutions when higher filtration area is needed. The 90 mm diameter suits correspondingly sized filter holders and funnels, improving throughput relative to smaller discs while retaining the same pore-size specification. Each pack contains 50 white filters, convenient for batch work and shared laboratory stocks. The non-sterile discs are intended for general laboratory clarification and particulate retention rather than aseptic processing. Offered by Macherey-Nagel within the PORAFIL CA line, this variant keeps material, colour and pore width consistent across the diameter range so methods can be scaled with minimal change. Explicit pore size and diameter data support correct matching to holders and written procedures. A reliable cellulose acetate membrane option for 0,45 µm filtration at 90 mm.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

Questions about PORA CA, white, PW:0,45 µm, d: 90 mm

What is this article?

PORA CA, white, PW:0,45 µm, d: 90 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
