Description

PORA NC membrane filters are white cellulose nitrate / mixed cellulose ester (CN, MCE) discs with a pore size of 0,45 µm and a diameter of 90 mm. Intended for laboratory filtration and particle retention, these PORAFIL NC membranes provide a consistent porous matrix suitable for aqueous and many compatible organic samples where mixed cellulose ester media are specified. The pack comprises 50 pieces for use with 90 mm filter holders and related filtration hardware. Membranes are non-sterile and are not classified as dangerous goods for transport under the relevant ADR special provision and IATA exception. From manufacturer Macherey-Nagel, the PORA NC series supports clarification steps, sample preparation and general analytical filtration in research, QC and process environments. The white membrane surface facilitates visual assessment of retained residues. Choose this 90 mm diameter when larger filtration area is needed while retaining the 0,45 µm pore rating typical of many analytical and preparatory workflows.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

Questions about PORA NC, white, PW:0,45 µm, d: 90 mm

What is this article?

PORA NC, white, PW:0,45 µm, d: 90 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
