Description

PORAFIL TE membrane filter is a white polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane disc with a pore size of 0,20 µm and a diameter of 90 mm for larger-format laboratory filtration. These PTFE membranes support clarification, solvent filtration and fine particulate retention when chemical resistance and a defined 0,20 µm cut-off are needed. Each pack contains 25 filters matched to 90 mm holders used in preparative, analytical and process-support applications. The TE series from manufacturer Macherey-Nagel pairs controlled pore structure with the inherent inertness of PTFE, enabling use across many organic solvents and aggressive media within established filtration practice. The white membrane surface allows straightforward visual checks of retained material. Non-sterile supply is appropriate for general laboratory workflows rather than aseptic operations. With a 90 mm diameter, the discs offer greater filtration area for higher sample volumes while retaining the fine 0,20 µm rating valued in chemistry, environmental analysis and quality-control laboratories that standardise on PTFE membrane technology.

This article is part of Membrane filters, in Filtration.

Questions about PORA TE, white, PW:0,20 µm, d: 90 mm

What is this article?

PORA TE, white, PW:0,20 µm, d: 90 mm is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Macherey-Nagel for laboratory use. It sits in Membrane filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A membrane filter is the disc itself, without a syringe housing. Pore size, polymer and diameter are the specification, and the disc has to sit in a holder. Gridded membranes are for counting colonies. A membrane and a filter paper of the same diameter are not interchangeable.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
