Description

Photometer for high-range ammonium HI97733C is a portable, battery-powered dedicated photometer for quantifying ammonium in surface water and wastewater. Ammonium arises mainly from deamination of organic nitrogen compounds and urea hydrolysis, and may also appear where chloramines are used for disinfection; it is less common in groundwater because it adsorbs to soil particles. The instrument covers 0,0 to 100,0 mg/L (as NH4⁺) with 0,1 mg/L resolution and accuracy of 0,5 mg/L ±5 % of reading at 25 °C. Its advanced optical system combines an LED with a narrow-band interference filter at 420 nm for precise, repeatable measurements; sealed optics resist dust, dirt and water, and cuvettes lock into a consistent holder position. The method is adapted from ASTM D1426 (Nessler). Supplied from manufacturer Hanna Instruments in a transport case with CAL CHECK™ standards for NIST-traceable verification, two capped measuring cuvettes, plastic inserts, scissors, cleaning cloth, three 1,5 V AA batteries, quality certificate and manual (reagents ordered separately). Tutorial guidance, German menu, GLP last-calibration recall, storage of the last 50 values, reaction timer, IP67 housing and auto shut-off support reliable routine analysis.

Questions about Portable Photometer for Ammonia High Range Portable with CAL Check standards

What is this article?

Portable Photometer for Ammonia High Range Portable with CAL Check standards is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Hanna Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in Photometers & spectrophotometers, inside Spectroscopy & photometry, in Lab instruments.

A photometer reads absorbance at one or a few wavelengths. A spectrophotometer scans or selects many. Both send light through a cuvette or a well. The wavelength range, UV or visible, and the bandwidth decide what can be measured. A visible-only instrument cannot read a nucleic acid at 260 nm.

A photometer or spectrophotometer sends light through a sample and reads how much was absorbed. In the range where the Beer–Lambert relation holds, absorbance tracks concentration. A refractometer reads how a liquid bends light, which tracks dissolved solids. A polarimeter reads the rotation of polarised light, the classical measurement for sugars. The lamp, the wavelength and the cuvette path length are the three things that have to be right before the number means anything. The optical quantities trace to NIST and the BIPM.
