Description

Photometer for chlorine dioxide (DPD) is a portable, battery-powered instrument for photometric determination of chlorine dioxide up to 2,00 mg/L. It combines an advanced sealed optical bench—LED source, narrow-band interference filter at 525 nm and silicon photocell detector—with a cuvette holder that places round 24,6 mm cells in a reproducible position for accurate, repeatable readings. Resolution is 0,01 mg/L and accuracy at 25 °C is ±0,10 mg/L ±5 % of reading, using a method adapted from Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, 18th Edition, 4500 ClO2 D. Chlorine dioxide is a highly effective, environmentally favourable microbicide used for drinking-water and industrial disinfection without forming trihalomethanes typical of chlorine treatment. This dedicated HI97xxx-series meter from manufacturer Hanna Instruments includes CAL CHECK™ performance verification with NIST-traceable standards, an on-screen tutorial for sample preparation and reagent volumes, GLP calibration-date recall, automatic logging of the last 50 measurements, built-in reaction timer, battery-status display and auto power-off. Supplied in a transport case with two capped cuvettes, plastic inserts, CAL CHECK™ standards, scissors, cleaning cloth, three 1,5 V AA batteries, instrument quality certificate and manual. Required reagents are ordered separately.

Questions about Portable Photometer for Chlorine Dioxide with CAL Check standards

What is this article?

Portable Photometer for Chlorine Dioxide with CAL Check standards is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Hanna Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in Photometers & spectrophotometers, inside Spectroscopy & photometry, in Lab instruments.

A photometer reads absorbance at one or a few wavelengths. A spectrophotometer scans or selects many. Both send light through a cuvette or a well. The wavelength range, UV or visible, and the bandwidth decide what can be measured. A visible-only instrument cannot read a nucleic acid at 260 nm.

A photometer or spectrophotometer sends light through a sample and reads how much was absorbed. In the range where the Beer–Lambert relation holds, absorbance tracks concentration. A refractometer reads how a liquid bends light, which tracks dissolved solids. A polarimeter reads the rotation of polarised light, the classical measurement for sugars. The lamp, the wavelength and the cuvette path length are the three things that have to be right before the number means anything. The optical quantities trace to NIST and the BIPM.
