Description

Professional food handheld pH/°C meter with pH electrode FC2023 is a robust, waterproof, HACCP-oriented instrument for measuring pH and temperature in food matrices. pH governs taste, fermentation, freshness, appearance and shelf life, and helps separate acidic foods (natural pH ≤ 4,6) from low-acid products. Solids, semi-solids and high-solids suspensions readily foul glass membranes and clog junctions; the supplied Foodcare electrode FC2023 therefore uses a conical tip for easy penetration, an open junction to resist clogging, and a PVDF body that is food-compatible, abrasion-resistant and tolerant of many chemicals including solvents and sodium hypochlorite. Connection is via a waterproof Quick Connect DIN plug. CAL Check™ compares the current calibration with the previous one and alerts the user if the electrode needs cleaning or replacement or if buffer contamination is likely; electrode condition is then shown as a percentage. AutoHold freezes the first stable reading for logging, while log-on-demand stores up to 200 measurements with GLP data (date, time, buffers, offset, slope). Data can be recalled on the meter or transferred by micro-USB cable HI920015 and HI92000 software. This meter from manufacturer Hanna Instruments supports traceable food-process pH control.

Questions about Professional Foodcare Portable pH Meter

What is this article?

Professional Foodcare Portable pH Meter is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Hanna Instruments for laboratory use. It sits in pH electrodes & sensors, inside pH & electrochemistry, in Lab instruments.

A pH electrode is a glass membrane and a reference. It is a consumable: the glass ages, the junction clogs, and the reading drifts. A refillable electrode and a gel electrode differ in how they are maintained. The connector has to match the meter. The electrode, not the meter, is usually what is wrong.

A pH meter is a voltmeter on a glass electrode. The voltage tracks hydrogen-ion activity, and the electrode is converted to pH only after it is adjusted with buffers of known value. Conductivity measures how well a solution carries a current, which for dilute salts tracks concentration. Dissolved oxygen and titration are further electrodes on the same idea: a sensor, a standard, and a reading that is only as fresh as the calibration. Buffer values and chemical identity sit on PubChem. Accreditation of the calibration laboratory is the field of BELAC and EURAMET.
