Description

PULVERISETTE 2 mortar mill is a laboratory grinding system for universal comminution of medium-hard to soft-brittle materials, dry or in suspension, down to analytical fineness. It is equally suited to preparing and homogenising pastes and creams on a laboratory scale. Maximum feed size is 8 mm depending on the material, maximum throughput is 150 ml per batch, and final fineness reaches 10–20 µm at a rotor speed of 70/80 rpm. Grinding follows the hand-mortar principle: the sample is reduced between pestle and mortar bowl by pressure and friction; a gear motor turns the bowl and friction drives the freely rotating pestle. Key practical features include rapid uniform size reduction, addition of auxiliaries during operation, tool-free bayonet mounting of bowl and pestle, reproducible pestle setting even while running, pre-crushing adjustment for coarse samples and easy cleaning. The mill from manufacturer Fritsch is supplied without grinding sets; mortar and pestle are available in seven materials as accessories. Typical application fields include mining, chemistry, geology, glass, ceramics, agriculture, food, metallurgy and pharmacy. CE-marked construction supports safe routine laboratory use.

Questions about PULVERISETTE 2 Mortar Grinder

What is this article?

PULVERISETTE 2 Mortar Grinder is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Fritsch for laboratory use. It sits in Mortars & pestles, inside Dishes, crucibles & porcelain, in Labware.

A mortar and pestle grind a solid by hand. Porcelain is the ordinary laboratory set. Agate and glass are chosen when the sample must not pick up porcelain dust. The unglazed grinding surface, not the glossy outside, does the work.

A dish is an open vessel for drying, evaporating or holding a solid. Porcelain and glazed ceramic take a higher temperature than borosilicate glass, which is why a crucible, not a beaker, goes into a furnace. A watch glass covers, or holds a small amount for drying. A mortar is for grinding. The temperature and the chemical, not the shape alone, choose the material. Laboratory ware of this family is listed under ISO laboratory ware.
