Description

ROTI®CELL 10x PBS is a sterile, concentrated phosphate-buffered saline prepared without calcium and magnesium under the CELLPURE® quality line for cell-culture applications. Supplied as a 1 l plastic pack, this tenfold concentrate is intended for dilution to working strength in general cell-culture workflows, washing steps and buffer preparation where a Ca/Mg-free PBS is specified. Physical data indicate a density of approximately 1 g/cm³ and a boiling point near 100 °C. ROTI®CELL 10x PBS from manufacturer Carl ROTH supports routine maintenance of osmotic balance and pH in mammalian and other cell systems when diluted according to laboratory protocols. The sterile presentation reduces preparation burden in tissue-culture suites, core facilities and research laboratories that require consistent, ready-to-dilute PBS stock. Use under standard aseptic technique after appropriate dilution for the intended cell-culture or general laboratory buffer application.

This article is part of Biological buffers (Tris, HEPES, MOPS), in Buffers & pH solutions.

What is this article?

ROTI®CELL 10x PBS, sterile, w/o Ca/Mg, CELLPURE®, 1 l, plastic is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Carl Roth for laboratory use. It sits in Biological buffers (Tris, HEPES, MOPS), inside Buffers & pH solutions, in Lab chemicals.

Tris, HEPES, MOPS and their relatives hold pH in a range that cells and proteins tolerate, with a pKa near the working pH. The useful range is roughly one unit either side of the pKa. A phosphate buffer and Tris are not interchangeable in a method that names one of them, because the ion itself has effects.

A buffer resists a change in pH when a little acid or base is added. It does that because a weak acid and its conjugate base are both present. A pH buffer used to calibrate a meter has a stated value at a stated temperature. A biological buffer such as Tris or HEPES is chosen because it holds the pH of a living system and does not poison it. Conductivity standards are the sister articles for a conductivity meter. The ions are on PubChem. Electrode calibration practice sits with EURAMET and BELAC.
