Description

Cone NS 85/55 DURAN is a large standard ground-joint cone manufactured to DIN 12249 from DURAN tubing in borosilicate glass 3.3. With an outer diameter of 80 mm, a length of 200 mm and a wall thickness of 3,5 mm, it forms a sturdy male joint component for laboratory glassware assemblies. The DURAN® borosilicate construction offers high chemical resistance and good thermal performance for synthesis, distillation and apparatus work. Available as a single piece from manufacturer Witeg, this NS 85/55 cone is intended for custom glass systems that need a wide standard joint with consistent geometry. Ground sealing surfaces support a reliable fit with the corresponding socket in atmospheric or moderate vacuum service. Research and process laboratories use such cones when building or servicing multi-neck vessels, large adapters and reaction setups. Combining DIN-defined dimensions with the established properties of borosilicate glass 3.3, the cone provides a durable connection element for demanding chemical laboratory environments.

Questions about ST-cone ST85/55 Duran

What is this article?

ST-cone ST85/55 Duran is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Witeg for laboratory use. It sits in Distillation heads, adapters & columns, inside Distillation & extraction glassware, in Labware.

A still head, an adapter or a column is the glass between the boiling flask and the condenser. A Vigreux or packed column gives the vapour a surface so a closer-boiling mixture can separate. The joint sizes at both ends have to match the flask and the condenser.

Distillation separates liquids by boiling point. A condenser turns the vapour back into liquid: Liebig, coil and cold-finger shapes differ in how much cooling surface they offer. A still head and a column sit between the flask and the condenser. A Soxhlet extractor washes a solid again and again with the same solvent. Ground joints have a standard size, and the joint, not the flask, is what has to match. The pieces are indexed under ISO laboratory glassware.
