Description

Syringe filter Micropur CA is a high-quality disposable syringe filter with a hydrophilic cellulose acetate (CA) membrane of 25 mm diameter and 0,45 µm pore size in a wheel-shaped polypropylene (PP) housing. The CA membrane is intended for filtration of water-soluble oligomers and polymers and is particularly suited to biological macromolecules, offering very high dimensional stability in aqueous solutions and an extremely low protein-binding capacity of 21 µg per 25 mm filter. Effective filtration area is 4,91 cm² with a hold-up volume of 80 µL; recommended sample volume ranges from 5 to 100 mL. Inlet is Luer Lock and outlet is a Luer tip; the housing is colour-coded colourless on top and red below. Filters are autoclavable at 121 °C and 1,1 bar for 30 min. Typical uses include preparation for HPLC columns packed with particles larger than 3 µm as well as GC and SFC workflows. These Micropur units from manufacturer Altmann Analytik are produced in Germany; a certificate is available on request. Supplied as a pack of 100 pieces for routine laboratory sample clarification.

This article is part of Syringe filters, in Filtration.

Questions about Syringe Filter, Micropur, CA, 25 mm, 0,45 µm, PP housing

What is this article?

Syringe Filter, Micropur, CA, 25 mm, 0,45 µm, PP housing is the article on this page. Luminix Health distributes Altmann Analytik for laboratory use. It sits in Syringe filters, inside Filtration, in Lab consumables.

A syringe filter is a membrane in a plastic housing on a Luer fitting. Pore size, membrane polymer and diameter are the three choices. 0.2 µm is the sterilising and the HPLC-particle cut. 0.45 µm is the coarser clarification. Aqueous and solvent-resistant membranes are different polymers.

Filtration holds back what is larger than the pores and lets the rest through. Paper is the ordinary laboratory filter. A membrane has a stated pore size and a polymer that must survive the solvent. A syringe filter is that membrane in a housing on a syringe. Glass fibre takes a higher dirt load. Ultrafiltration holds back macromolecules and passes salts. The pore size, the chemical compatibility and the volume are the three choices. Laboratory apparatus around filtration is indexed under ISO laboratory apparatus.
